Each is a separate group devoted to improving the practice of law in a particular substantive area or specialty practice. The sections operate under bylaws and pol-icies approved by the Virginia State Bar Council. They elect their own offi cers and choose their own activities within the limits established by the Council. Section membership is open to all lawyers in good standing of the Virginia State Bar. Many sections also have law student and associate memberships.
